One particular thing to note with the washouts is that the use of chemicals have to be kept to the bare minimum, only in cases of hard to remove residues, and even in that case, one has to use only low grade chemicals. High pressure jets of water are enough by themselves in cleaning up the whole tanks. Some washers have rotary and hemispherical heads that spew off water in all directions, which would make sure that the whole of the interior is clean and dandy. However, it sometimes becomes necessary for the technician to enter the tank himself, wearing protective suits and outfitted with the needed accouterments such as portable ventilation or gas masks. They then scrub off the residue with a stiff brush, and if that does not suffice, they append chlorine and other low grade chemicals. After that, the tank is washed out with pressure cleaners yet again, and then steam heated.

Of course, important matters of fact have to be continually kept in mind by the operator. For instance, it is necessary that for the trailers operational life, its slated to carry only one type or kind of good. If it started off as a deliverer for edibles and food, then they must stick with that. If designed for handling petrochemicals, then they should carry only such. Bulkers, or trucks that carry dry goods, should only do so. This step will preclude all possibilities of cross contamination, especially with the food grade cargos.
