How To Establish The Best Gopher Trap

By Jose Graham

Dealing with rodents can be a massive problem for you especially if you do not have the right tactics. It is for this reason that this writing will be more about the process of setting up the best gopher trap. As long as you cannot locate the places where these pests are found, then the situation will not get any better for you. If you have any details that you do not understand or know then this is the opportunity for you to understand everything by reading this piece.

All your attention has to be taken on looking at the mounds that have just been made. The reason is that if you look at something that was made long ago, there is a likelihood that you will miss it merely because they might have been abandoned such a place a long time ago. You do not want all the efforts that you put in it to be effortless. The moment you get to spot one that is when you start assembling the tools that you will use in hunting.

The next step will be in identifying the tunnels. This will possibly prove to be the hardest part of the job. Most of the tubes will not be a foot below the shaft. Try and look at the patterns in the dirt as this will tell you where to look for. Keep in mind that these pests try to care about the tunnel so much. Use a stick to probe them into the ground to ease the process.

One will also have to follow this step by uncovering the tunnel through digging. When at it, try and take all the protective measures by wearing gloves. The other reason is that in case you run into the little animals, you will at least have something protecting you from their sharp teeth.

If you manage to reach this level, then it is not going to be hard for you to place the traps in place. When making the placement, do it in such a way that the rodent will walk straight into the traps. The size will also matter because you do not want to leave any space that the animal can use to escape.

Many people are never aware of this step, but the moment you have laid everything down, you will have no other option other than waiting. There is no stipulated period that one will have to wait but be informed that it can go up to days. Keep checking the area to see if there is any success.

It is not always a guarantee that you catch the rodents. This mostly happens if the tunnels were more than two and hence the rodent will have passed through another tunnel. However you should repeat the process by trying to find the other tunnels and set up the traps.

If one happens to catch one, the possibility is that it will either be alive or dead. If it is active, then you can have it kept somewhere, but if dead, then find an appropriate place to bury it.
