By Helen Patterson

Right now as you are reading this you have just newly acquired your concealed carry license or permit plus a new firearm as well. Ad to carry your new firearm around outdoors and concealed will require a holster of course. Some friends and colleagues of yours may have suggested that you get a Kydex concealment holster and you are mulling through the idea. However, prior to your final decision, do read on in this article to find the best holster for yourself.

Kydex is a thermoplastic material that is very durable. It is akin to fiberglass but a lot more tough and pliant. It is also quite lightweight and many prefer ones made of Kydex compared to leather made ones due to this. Despite the differences in materials, you still need to look out for a few key things in getting one for your current needs.

A major key factor to a good holster is retention. One should always keep your gun in place all the time despite any sudden actions or movements that you do such as running or jumping for example. A good one has good retention capabilities.

How far it can be adjusted in terms of ride height is also key to a perfect and comfortable fit. In relation to ride height, the cant should also be adjustable. The cant is the angle by which the gun sits inside the holster. Being able to adjust the cant will mean a faster or slower draw depending on the adjustment itself.

Getting a molded one should be much more practical than buying just a general fit one. A molded one is much safer for it will prevent accidental firing as caused by non molded ones, especially if one is fond of carrying loaded chambers. Molded ones can easily be found made out of Kydex and available for a wide range of handgun models.

Comfort if something that you must put importance on as well. For if it is not comfortable you will not wear it all the time. Comfort can be a fickle thing for one that is comfortable for one is not so for the other. Keep looking for one until you finally get one that you feel like it is your second skin.

You should also look at craftsmanship and quality. These are two very important things to consider especially if you want to buy one that will last you for quite a while. You should buy one with the aim of keeping it long enough to hand it down later on. Quality may cost a bit more, but is definitely much more worth it. Always put quality side by side with functionality.

And lastly perhaps it is to get a customized one altogether that is made according to your needs. Definitely a custom made one may be on the expensive side but it will answer all the attributes that you want to have in a good and decent concealment holster.
